Poems, [177-].

Manuscript in a single hand containing over fifty poems, apparently by Thomas Geary. The volume opens with "Letter to Lord Sandwich," a long poem in heroic couplets. Geary petitions the First Lord of the Admiralty for preferment and describes his naval career, which included service at St. John's in Newfoundland and under Admiral Francis Geary, whom he praises. Other poems related to Geary's naval service include "Verses Addressed to Charles Douglas Esq. Commander of His Majesty's Ship the Syren...." and "A Prologue Spoke at St. Johns Newfoundland." The volume also contains a variety of occasional verses, including appreciations of portraits of Lady Duncombe and Mrs. Duncombe; a poem in praise of the Quaker preacher May Drummond; and a series of elegies, epithelamions, acrostics and rebuses. The volume concludes with a set of psalm versifications.
